Dr. Guilkey joined the Guggenheim Real Estate LLC team in 2001 and is primarily responsible for GRE’s U.S. and international econometric forecasting models. David is the Cary C. Boshamer Distinguished Professor of Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a past chairman of the Economics Department. He has published over 100 papers in academic journals and is a fellow at the Journal of Econometrics and a long time collaborator of Dr. Miles. Most of his academic work has involved the analysis of large, pooled time series and cross sectional data sets of the type that were used to develop GRE’s forecasting models. He has worked with these types of data sets in Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States. He is currently the Project Director for a $22.8 million grant from the Gates Foundation that is charged with evaluating the cost effectiveness of the foundation’s funded initiatives in India, Nigeria, Senegal and Kenya. He is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of North Carolina.
